The International Sustainable Research and Education Network (ISREN) recently held its inaugural announcement ceremony and website launch in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The event was attended by a diverse group of academics and researchers from Yemen, Malaysia, and various other countries around the world, who joined the ceremony virtually via the Zoom platform.
During the event, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zein, the head of the network, delivered a compelling address, urging researchers and academics to redouble their efforts in advancing education and scientific research, and to actively contribute to the success of the ISREN initiative, emphasizing its potential to benefit global communities.
Dr. Abdullah Faisal Al-Sharif, the CEO of the Network, also addressed the audience, officially announcing the establishment of the network. He emphasized the critical need for this network, which has arisen due to the urgent and challenging circumstances faced by many countries. Dr. Al-Sharif highlighted the current decline in educational and scientific research standards, which has led to widespread ignorance, poverty, disease, and social stagnation, as well as prolonged conflicts and wars. He underscored that the migration of researchers and academics does not signify an abandonment of their responsibilities to their homelands; rather, it reflects their strong desire to serve their countries, particularly in the face of such challenging conditions.
Dr. Ali Argash, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, Vocational Education, and Technical Training in the Republic of Yemen, expressed his warm welcome to the launch of the network and extended his best wishes for its success. He also pledged to facilitate the network's activities to the best of his abilities. Dr. Argash encouraged Yemeni researchers and academics residing abroad to actively contribute to the development of education and scientific research in Yemen, especially given the current circumstances experienced by the country.
Dr. Adel Bahamid, the Ambassador of the Republic of Yemen to Malaysia, delivered a speech in which he warmly welcomed the audience and commended the significant efforts made in establishing the network. He expressed his optimism regarding the network's potential to play a pioneering role in advancing scientific research. Dr. Bahamid praised the network's commitment to enhancing the concept of sustainability in education through innovation, cooperation, and partnership in the fields of education, training, and scientific research. He also emphasized the importance of adopting a policy of research solutions, enhancing the status of scientific research, and striving to improve public life through the outputs of scientific research.
The inauguration ceremony also featured a thought-provoking scientific symposium moderated by Dr. Abdul Razzaq Al-Hababi. During this symposium, Dr. Nasser Zawya discussed the quality of research outputs in major Gulf universities and shared insights into several distinguished experiences in this field. Additionally, Dr. Ahmed Al-Dubai presented a scientific paper on the importance of scientific research in the present era, emphasizing its indispensable nature in light of the rapid development of knowledge and technology, and its far-reaching impact on various aspects of life. The symposium concluded with a comprehensive scientific paper on current challenges and the future of sustainability, presented by Dr. Osama Al-Madhoun. This paper provided a detailed overview of strategies to overcome contemporary challenges and achieve greater sustainability across various fields.
